Formula
Formula
ANC = WBC x (%Segs + %Bands) / 100. Units: K/uL. ANC <500 = severe neutropenia. ANC <1000 = moderate.
ANC represents the absolute number of neutrophil granulocytes. It's the most important predictor of infection risk in chemotherapy patients. Bands are immature neutrophils included in the count.
How to Calculate Manually
- 1 Enter WBC count with units
- 2 Enter % segmented neutrophils
- 3 Enter % band neutrophils

Reference Table
| CTCAE Grade | ANC (K/uL) | ANC (cells/uL) | Clinical Significance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grade 0 | >=1.5 | >=1500 | Normal |
| Grade 1 | 1.0-1.49 | 1000-1499 | Mild neutropenia |
| Grade 2 | 0.5-0.99 | 500-999 | Moderate neutropenia |
| Grade 3 | 0.1-0.49 | 100-499 | Severe neutropenia |
| Grade 4 | <0.1 | <100 | Life-threatening |
The Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC) is a critical laboratory value used to assess a patient's risk of infection, particularly in the context of chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation, and other conditions causing bone marrow suppression. Neutrophils are the primary white blood cells responsible for fighting bacterial and fungal infections...
